Contarelli Chapel - Caravaggio Matteo Contarelli built a chapel in 1565 for the church of San Luigi dei Francesi in Rome. The decoration of the chapel was not done until the death of Matteo Contarelli in 1585. For the altar in the chapel, a "Saint Matthew and the Angel" statue was considered.
