Regular ferries make the short hop from the end of Digby Neck to Long Island and Brier Island. The boats run hourly and around the clock. Fares are cheap - free for foot passengers and just $5 return for vehicles.

When we went the wait was not long at all. They time the ferries so that when you board the first one for Long Island (a short 5 minute crossing) the second ferry for Brier Island is there waiting so you just get onto that one straight away for another short 5 minute crossing. Each ferry cost $5 (one way) and it held about 20 cars.

Brier Island Whale and Seabird Cruises offer two types of tours - up to 2.5 hours (Zodiac boat) and up to 5 hours (regular whale watching boat). We chose the Zodiac tour, preferring to get to the whales quicker. The Zodiac is also much smaller, with 12 passengers compared to 50 when full.
